Lansing Regional Chamber Selects Jeffrey Cassidy to Direct Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC)
Tim Daman, president and CEO of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC) has announced that Jeffrey A. Cassidy has been hired as procurement counselor of the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) in Lansing.
Cassidy will assist industries in the Ingham, Clinton, and Eaton counties market, attain, and perform local, state, and federal government contracts including the unlimited purchasing network within the Department of Defense by utilizing a unique program called BidMatch that connects companies' products and services to government needs for bidding purposes. The Lansing PTAC is a satellite office of the Technical Assistance Center of South Central Michigan in Jackson.
Since August 2008 the Chamber's PTAC office has held over 50 initial counseling sessions and more than 130 follow up sessions. The PTAC also hosted a Buy Michigan, Military Packaging Seminar and PTAC 101 programs attracting more than 100 businesses. Generating new government contracts has the potential to create millions of dollars in new investment and jobs in the Greater Lansing region.
Cassidy comes to the PTAC position after having served on the legislative staffs of state senators John Pappageorge, Jason Allen and Judson Gilbert II. He was also an aide for Speaker Rick Johnson. In those positions, Cassidy was responsible for assisting in drafting of legislation, tracking bills through the legislative process, testifying before legislative committees and handling constituent casework.
Cassidy is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a telecommunications/operations specialist for the 1171st Area Support Medical Company in Baghdad, Iraq. He was the recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal while in Iraq, NCSL National Medal of Civic Honor, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and the Army-Good Conduct Medal. Cassidy holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Michigan State University.
The Technical Assistance Center of South Central Michigan covers Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Jackson, Branch, Hillsdale and Lenawee counties. The Enterprise Group of Jackson is the PTAC host organization and covers Jackson, Branch, Hillsdale and Lenawee counties. Ingham, Eaton & Clinton counties are served by a sub-center housed at the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce.
