Lansing City Council Candidate Tom Truscott Earns Major Labor and Business Endorsements

Fourth Ward Lansing City Council candidate Tom Truscott has achieved the unusual distinction of receiving the endorsements of the region's leading labor and business organizations.  Truscott, who is on the August 4 primary ballot has received the backing of the Greater Lansing Labor Council (GLLC), AFL-CIO and the Lansing Regional Chamber Political Action Committee (LRC PAC).

"I am honored to have the support of  the Greater Lansing Labor Council and the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce," said Truscott.  "These endorsements speak to the recognition that I share with labor and business that we need to bring all aspects of our community together for a more effective Lansing City Council that truly serves its citizens."

"Tom Truscott is uniquely qualified to represent the citizens of the fourth ward and working men and women throughout the city of Lansing," said Paul Hufnagel, president of GLLC.  "Tom's experience in negotiations and working with budgets are much needed on Lansing City Council."

Truscott is a lifelong resident of Lansing and an experienced community leader.  He is a retired teacher, coach and athletic director, having spent his teaching and coaching career at Potterville High School and Lansing Sexton.  His historical understanding of the city and demonstrated ability to bring people together for a common goal were key factors in winning the labor and business endorsements.

"Tom Truscott has proven that he knows how to break down barriers to get things done in difficult circumstances," said Kristin Beltzer, LRCC senior vice president for Public Policy.  "Lansing City Council needs Tom's style of leadership to help move this city and the region forward."
