Dear Dale:
As a longtime advocate of a regional approach to public services, the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce strongly supports the proposal to dissolve the Ingham County Road Commission and transfer its governing authority to the Ingham County Board of Commissioners.
The original Public Act that established Road Commissions was passed more than 100 years ago and has served the community well for much of that time. However, the current-day fiscal realities have forced government officials at all levels to explore opportunities to achieve greater efficiencies through regionalism, sharing and consolidating of services. The decision to dissolve the road commission represents a sensible elimination of an unnecessary layer of government and, we believe, can be accomplished without creating a negative impact on services to the citizens of Ingham County.
The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce urges the Ingham County Board of Commissioners to support dissolution of the Ingham County Road Commission. Thank you for your leadership and we look forward to working with you in identifying and implementing other opportunities that will provide taxpayers with cost-effective government and streamlined services.

Sincerely,
