Panelists representing legislative leadership and the Snyder administration told the audience at the 2012 Legislative Dinner that they have serious doubts that a downtown casino will ever be built in Lansing. The group also endorsed the idea of an August ballot proposal for transportation funding, and showed little appetite for consideration of Right to Work legislation in 2012.

MEDC President and CEO Michael Finney to Lead the 2012 Global Logistics Conference

Michael Finney, president and CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), will be the keynote speaker for Port Lansing’s 2012 Global Logistics Conference. Finney will be joining over 20 global logistics, international business and financing experts who will be speaking at East Lansing’s Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on Tuesday, May 15 for the conference.

Lansing Regional Chamber to Join Trade Mission in Brazil

The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC), in partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) Pure Michigan State Trade & Export Promotion (STEP) program, will be participating in an important trade mission to Brazil to network with business professionals and learn about the many trade opportunities that exist in Brazil’s rapidly growing market. The trade mission is scheduled for May 20-26, 2012.
