Emergency Preparedness - Continuity of Operations Planning Workshop
What would happen to your organization if you couldn’t get into your offices for several days? What if a fire destroyed your facility? How would you continue to operate? The services your organization provides are important to the community, and may become more important than ever in a disaster. Disasters change things. No matter what size your organization is, having a plan for continuing operations from another location is the key to getting back to business quickly. Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) can make the difference between remaining fully operational or just having to close down during a disaster or emergency.
You will leave this three-hour class with a basic toolkit for Continuity of Operations Planning. You will learn how to protect yourself, your employees, your organization and, most importantly, the people you serve.
This training will help you:
• Stay in touch with employees and clients during an emergency
• Identify mission essential functions
• Establish an alternate facility
• Identify personnel with authority and knowledge of functions
• Get back to work quickly when an emergency occurs
Ronda Oberlin from the Lansing Office of Emergency Management and Jessica Harbitz from the Lansing Board of Water and Light will help you get started in making your business more disaster resilient. We hope you will take this unique opportunity to learn what you can do to protect your organization.
