Donate at the American Red Cross

The American Red Cross is inviting small businesses to help support its life-saving mission this summer.  The American Red Cross is partnering with Bonnie's Place, in Lansing, to encourage individuals from local businesses to donate blood or platelets at the Lansing Donor Center, 1729 E. Saginaw.  If businesses send at least five employees, customers, or friends and family to donate in a month's time during the summer, their office will be entered to win one of three (3) fifty-dollar gift cards to Bonnie's Place.  If you have any questions regarding this new program and how your business can get involved, feel free to call Steve Parker, Telerecruitment Manager at (517) 318-7333 or Gary Wedge, Apheresis Recruitment Representative at (517) 318-7292.

Haunted House Opportunity

The Lansing Jaycees are looking forward to presenting a Haunted House in October, 2010. Our organization is equipped with the materials, passion and experience to conduct a successful Haunted House in the greater Lansing area. We are missing one key component, the perfect location. We would like to build a relationship with a business that has space available in the fall for us to use on an annual basis. We require a location that can dedicate 5000 - 10000 square feet from mid-September to mid-November. The building will need to be up to code and be available to the public. We will also need access to ample parking as we usually have a strong turnout to our Haunted Houses. We would like to see a Chamber partner benefit from this opportunity. Our Haunted Houses have been very popular in the past and can provide a unique opportunity for increased foot traffic and community exposure. Please contact Angela Fossi at angfossi722@hotmail.com or 586-484-7027 if you are interested in helping with this event in any way. Please visit www.lansingjaycees.org to learn more about our organization.

Max's Race

Jim and Natalie Matthews tragically lost their son Max five years ago to complications due to bacterial spinal meningitis. Since then, they've held an annual "Max's Race" to raise funds for Cure Kids Cancer, which is affiliated with Sparrow Hospital and part of the Children's Miracle Network. The race is endorsed by the Governor's Council for Physical Fitness and Sports and is part of the Playmakers Greater Lansing Race Series. To find out more about the race go to: www.maxsrace.com.
