Charles Blockett, board chairman of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC) announced the Chamber will conduct a nationwide search for the next LRCC president & CEO to replace William Sepic, who resigned to become CEO of the Wisconsin Automobile and Truck Dealers Association. Sepic was hired as LRCC president & CEO in 2002. His resignation is effective October, 27.

"We have formed a search committee which will meet next week to set a timetable for choosing a successor," said Blockett.  "The Lansing Regional Chamber position is highly desirable and will attract an outstanding pool of candidates."

James Barrett, former President and CEO of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, has been appointed as interim president and chief executive officer of the LRCC. Barrett will oversee the Lansing chamber's operations while its board of directors searches for a permanent replacement for William Sepic.

LRCC board vice chair/chair elect John Truscott said the Chamber's vastly improved financial status plus the combination of an aggressive search timetable and the strong Chamber staff will help LRCC maintain the momentum it has experienced in recent months.  Among the Chamber's recent noteworthy accomplishments, Truscott cited successful efforts to convince Lansing City Council to support the Gillespie Group's Marketplace development in downtown Lansing, which will bring new housing, office space and hotel rooms to downtown Lansing.

"The Chamber effort was crucial to the successful passage of the Marketplace project, which along with the Accident Fund plan to renovate the BWL Ottawa Street building will reshape the face of downtown Lansing," said Truscott.  "The Chamber has also been successful in launching the new Procurement Center that will help tri-county business land government contracts, and we've worked closely with Capital Region International Airport to secure Foreign Trade Zone status for the region."
