Mayor Bernero, Community Leaders Announce Brand New Summer Event Coming to Lansing

Leaders gather to make o-fish-al announcement

LANSING - Today Terry Terry,Co-Founder and President of the Michigan Institute for Contemporary Art (MICA)was joined byLansing Mayor Virg BerneroandJack Schripsema, President of the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau to announce the first Grand American Fish Rodeo, a brand new event that will be held along the shores of the Grand River in Lansing.

The first Grand American Fish Rodeo will be a group of several simultaneous events held over the course of three days, June 12-14, 2014, along the path of the Grand River in downtown Lansing.

"I’m thrilled to announce that we’re bringing this exciting new event to Lansing,” said Terry Terry, co-founder and president of MICA. "The first Grand American Fish Rodeo will be a celebration of Michigan’s rich heritage of gratitude for our rivers, lakes, and aquatic life, and our equally rich tradition of creativity and self-expression.”

Terry, Mayor Bernero and Schripsema were joined today by festival volunteers, as well as just a few of the community sponsors who are helping to put this event on.

"I love it. It’s innovative, hip, cool, and new,” added Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero. "It’s time for something new in Lansing. You have my full support.”
