Local hospice, Hospice of Lansing, receives state-wide accolades

Lansing, MI – March 18, 2014 - Hospice of Lansing, a local, nonprofit, community-based independent hospice, is the proud recipient of the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Michigan’s 2014 Award of Excellence.

The Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Michigan is a state-wide organization with over 100 members. This is the first year this prestigious award will be given to any organization and they chose Hospice of Lansing as its first recipient.  The Award of Excellence recipients embody a commitment to hospice care, including: dedication in the community for more than five years, commitment to professional and personal development of their staff and volunteers (as well as recognition), partnerships that serve to increase the access to knowledge of end of life care in the community and the use of innovative approaches to meet the needs of patients, families or community members.

“We are honored to be recognized by our peers for the outstanding service we provide to the mid-Michigan community,” said John Person, Hospice of Lansing’s Executive Director. “We face many challenges as a non-profit, community-based and local hospice. Our team is dedicated to the care of those we serve and faces those challenges with that one thought in mind. I’m proud to be a part of such a wonderful organization serving this community.”

The award will be presented at the Hospice & Palliative Care Association of Michigan’s (HPCAM) annual conference at the Lansing Convention Center in May, 2014.
