DIRECTOR OF MICHIGAN CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM AFFAIRS NAMED

Billie Kops Wimmer to Head Michigan Office

Alice Fingers, CEO of the Association for Child Development (ACD), a sponsor of the US Department of Agriculture’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), has announced the appointment of Billie Kops Wimmer to head Michigan CACFP affairs.  In this role, Ms. Wimmer will oversee ACD assistance to child care providers in serving nutritious food to children in their care and to provide nutrition education for child care personnel.

CACFP is available to all licensed daycare providers.  The program targets higher levels of reimbursement to low-income areas. The reimbursements make the cost of child care more affordable for many lower income families.

“Our Board of Directors is committed to our mission of establishing healthy eating habits for a lifetime,” Ms. Fingers stated. “We are excited to have the benefit of Ms. Wimmer’s experience in public and private sectors. She will help us strengthen our partnerships with our providers.”

ACD administers one of the largest CACFP sponsorships in the nation, serving both Michigan and Illinois.  By monitoring more than 2200 child care homes in Michigan annually and preparing monthly reimbursements for each of these child care providers, ACD fulfills its mission and supported nearly 10 million healthy meals to be served last year in the state.
