Associated Builders and Contractors breaks records during its 29th annual Make-A-Wish Fundraiser!

Associated Builders and Contractors – Greater Michigan Chapter is pleased to announce having raised a record $28,000 at the 2014 dinner/dance benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan.

Since the chapter began working with Make-A-Wish as part of its ABC Cares initiative, they have raised nearly $500,000 allowing wishes to be granted to more than 90 area children.

“It is a true honor to be a part of such an amazing organization. The volunteers, staff and community who help make this event possible are beyond generous in their giving. Their gifts, donations and time are what makes the kid’s wishes become a reality,” said Jennifer Smith, 2014 Event Chair.

The dinner/dance was held in April at The Great Hall located inside Valley Plaza Resort in Midland with an unheard of 470+ guests in attendance. This is the largest crowd the fundraiser has ever seen and the planning committee was overwhelmed with the enthusiasm and generosity of the community. Funds raised from the event were used to sponsor wishes of three children in the Great Lakes Bay Region who are bravely facing their health challenges.

This event is unique in the fact that the newly sponsored families for the year are invited to attend and be recognized for their strength during their child’s time of illness as well as all of the past sponsor recipients and wish children. The focus of the evening are the local families that Make-A-Wish of Michigan touches and coming together to celebrate, honor them and raise money to support the wish granting efforts.

The planning committee is already looking forward to beginning preparations for next year’s event and hoping to raise another record amount for the organization.
