Capital Region International Airport wins marketing awards
in contest sponsored by leading industry association
CRIA receives Airports Council International-North America honors
LANSING – Capital Region International Airport (CRIA) won three awards for recent marketing and communications campaigns in a competition that included some of the largest airports in North America.
The Lansing airport garnered two first-place awards and one third-place finish in the 2014 Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest.
The airport took first place in the Print Advertising category for ads developed to demonstrate its commitment to the community by supporting and celebrating local culture – specifically, the Lansing Symphony Orchestra and the Wharton Center for Performing Arts.
The airport also placed first in the Video and Film Productions category for an 80-second video that was designed to communicate to area business leaders the impact it has on the region’s economy, as well as demonstrate that the airport is a convenient, reliable and cost-competitive travel option.
The airport’s Top Flight Club, a new loyalty program created to reward frequent travelers, was awarded third place in the Community Outreach category. The Top Flight Club offers perks such as monthly prize drawings, exclusive access to the airport’s Top Flight Lounge, free coffee and access to special offers.
Nicole-Noll Williams, director of marketing and passenger development for Capital Region International Airport, led the development of the award-winning campaigns in partnership with Güd Marketing, a Lansing-based advertising, marketing and public relations agency.
They were selected from 287 entries submitted by 56 airports throughout North America.
Communications and marketing professionals from the United States and Canada judged each of the 20 award categories.
Airports Council International-North America represents local, regional and state governing bodies that own and operate commercial airports in the United States and Canada. ACI-NA member airports enplane more than 95 percent of the domestic and virtually all the international airline passenger and cargo traffic in North America.
“The results of the 2014 ACI-NA Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest vividly illustrate the innovation and creativity needed in telling the important story of airports,” said ACI-NA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke.
Robert F. Selig, CRIA president and CEO, said he’s proud that the airport was able to bring recognition to mid-Michigan.
“To stack up so well in comparison with some of the largest hubs on the continent is quite an accomplishment,” he said. “We’re pleased that our efforts to engage and connect with our community were judged as exceptionally effective.”
