Highfields raises more than $41,000 to aid at-risk families

Local business people helped raise more than $41,000 to help fund programs that are working to reduce family violence and provide a safety net for at-risk Children during Highfields’ 34th Annual Golf Outing in June at Forest Akers West Golf Course.

Highfields programs help stop the cycle of abuse in families, helps raise kids’ grades in after school programs and counsel parents to be more effective in raising their children.

“The outing helps fund programs for families struggling to raise children safely,” says Brian Philson, president/CEO.  “We are so grateful to the many corporations and individuals who helped make the outing successful.”

Jackson National Life topped the event’s list of corporate sponsors.  Other major sponsors include Foster Swift Collins and Smith Attorneys, Dean Transportation, Maner Costerisan Certified Public Accountants, Orchid Orthopedic Solutions, Physicians Health Plan, Lyman Sheets Insurance Agency and Architectural Metals Inc.

Highfields’ programs serve approximately 6,000 people a year.  Many more need help but are unable to obtain services due to limited program funding.

Founded in 1962, Highfields Inc. is a nonprofit organization in its 52nd year of providing home-based counseling, residential care, experiential education and support programs for families, youth and communities throughout mid-Michigan.
