Hello Everyone:

What a year, again, our region and LEAP are having from an economic development perspective! We are thankful to all of our investors and partners, who play a critical role in landing so many projects…and so many more yet to come this year. I am confident that, by the end of the year, LEAP will have helped business announce and create several thousand more new jobs in our region- and these are good and brand new jobs. And LEAP’s role in these projects has been critical and vital. The opportunities that these jobs (think families) represent to you, our investors, are virtually endless- Homes sales, apartments, mortgages, car loans, insurance, health care, new spin off businesses, students in schools and colleges, development possibilities, energy users, store shoppers, a heightened national and statewide awareness of our region full of economic opportunity and growth…well the list is endless potential for you.

As I approach my three year anniversary here at LEAP, and what an amazing and most wonderful time it has been for me, hard to believe it’s been three years, we continue to put the final touches on the organizational shaping of LEAP into what is now recognized as one of the state’s and Midwest’s very finest economic development organizations. The staff is the best in the state. I am so thankful to them. Our Board of Directors- Yes, the most important and incredible Board, along with the Lansing Regional Chamber, that we have going as a region.

So, one more piece to the puzzle.

I am pleased to announce that Steve Willobee, current Director of Business Development at LEAP, will take on the additional role as LEAP’s COO. This will greatly help with continuity issues inside and outside LEAP, as we work with our clients, customers, communities and investors, continually improving our services and measurables. Steve has deep experience in economic development at the MEDC, in the private sector and as well as right here at LEAP. Help me congratulate Steve!

Have a continued wonderful summer.

Bob
