The Old Town General Store Off-Center Art Festival August 16, 2014 – Noon to 6:00 pm
The Old Town General Store opened on May 3, 2013 and it has quickly become the place to go for Lansing residents interested in healthy, fresh, locally-produced food and Michigan-themed gifts. From the beginning, owner Rhea Van Atta envisioned the Old Town General Store as an oasis of not only reasonably-priced, healthy groceries but also as a hub of community events and activities.
The 1,000 sq. ft. courtyard behind the store offers a relaxing, natural space to enjoy music and outdoor art, and the summer Concerts in the Courtyard music series brings a variety of local, regional, and national acoustic acts to Old Town. Now, we are expanding our artistic vision with the inaugural “Off-Center Art Festival”, named for our location – 408 E. Grand River, just off Center Street.
The Off-Center Art Festival will combine art, music, and food tastings to create a unique expression of Van Atta’s vision for the store and courtyard. Artists and craftspeople scheduled to display include: Bohnet Jewelry, Tracy's sun catchers and jewelry, Penelope's Aprons, Jojo Beans Barn recycled pallet furniture, Cracker Jack pottery, Papercuts journals and cards, Altered Attitude clothing, Flip Top earrings, Punky Plants, Laura's agate stars, Amy's Aminals (yes, that’s spelled correctly), and Ten Eycks Natural Inspirations and Art.
