LANSING, MI – More than 2,500 people cast their votes for their favorite Christmas carols that will be sung during the Community Sing at the 30th Annual Silver Bells in the City as part of a FOX 47 Poll held from Sept. 2 through Sept 12. The top two songs chosen are Silver Bells and Joy to the World.
Presented by the Lansing Board of Water and Light, the 30th Annual Silver Bells in the City, set for Friday, Nov. 21, is bringing back the Community Sing. This tradition began in 1985 during the inaugural year of Silver Bells when it was a very small affair with banners, a high school pep band and a Community Sing led by Mayor McKane at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Washington Square.
This year, the Community Sing will begin just before the lighting of the State Christmas tree, when attendees will have the opportunity to sing two carols along with Detroit-based, Larry Callahan and the Selected of God Choir. The Community Sing is sponsored by the Greater Lansing Convention and
Silver Bells in the City is free and open to the public. A project of Downtown Lansing Inc., Silver Bells in the City is produced with the assistance of many dedicated community volunteers from the city, state, downtown businesses and educational and cultural institutions.
