Richard Whisner to represent IDV Solutions during GTSC’s National Preparedness Symposium on Sept. 30
Event to focus on challenges posed by changing climate conditions and how technology can help
Lansing, MI — September 24, 2014
Richard Whisner, PMP, Senior Program Manager for IDV Solutions will be speaking during the Government Technology & Service Coalition’s National Preparedness Symposium on Sept. 30.
The Symposium will focus on the challenges to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other government facilities posed by changing climate conditions, the advances in alert systems and disaster communications, new technologies to support the mission and ways to strengthen the exchange between the public and private sector. FEMA is facing a tremendous number of challenges including more violent and frequent weather incidents, preparedness awareness, long-term disaster recovery efforts and continuing financial constraints.
“We are excited to have IDV join our Symposium to discuss ways technology has resulted in better real-time information, integration of existing resources and more coordinated prevention, mitigation and response. As an organization, we have taken the Quadrennial Homeland Security Review’s recommendation to strengthening the public private partnership to achieve mission very seriously and IDV has certainly stepped up with the thought leadership on how we can make that happen,” said Kristina Tanasichuk, CEO, Government Technology & Services Coalition (GTSC).
Whisner will participate in a panel that will focus on technological advances that are allowing FEMA to integrate people, processes and information better than ever before. These advances afford FEMA unique opportunities to analyze and crowd share data, communicate alerts and information about disasters and increase FEMA's situational awareness on the ground faster and more efficiently.
IDV’s market-leading enterprise risk visualization (ERV) software platform, Visual Command Center®, will be one of the technologies discussed during the panel. Visual Command Center empowers organizations to protect their people and assets, ensure continuity of operations and optimize performance. When a risk is detected near an asset or employee location, Visual Command Center automatically generates an alert and provides tools to assess whether the risk is a threat and take immediate action to minimize the impact of the threat. It is used by public and private sector clients to support emergency management, physical security, public safety, logistics, business continuity and supply chain.
