McLaren raises support for greatest needs, nursing scholarships

LANSING, Mich. – More than 300 supporters filled the Country Club of Lansing on Saturday to raise funds for McLaren Greater Lansing at its annual gala. The event, organized by McLaren Greater Lansing Healthcare Foundation and sponsored by PNC Bank, raised more than $200,000 for the hospital’s greatest needs.

At PNC, we understand the important role quality healthcare plays in our community,” said Tim Salisbury, regional president, PNC. “The gala helps ensure that McLaren can continue to offer first-rate care and state-of-the-art facilities in the rapidly evolving healthcare field.”

Guests enjoyed cocktails, elegant dining, live music from Detroit band Bluewater Kings, casino gaming and opportunities to support McLaren’s nursing scholarship program through an online silent auction.

“Moments like these invigorate our community,” said Scott Stewart, chair of McLaren Greater Lansing Healthcare Foundation’s board of trustees. “We’ve come together in common cause— to acknowledge our patients’ and caregivers’ needs, and to provide them with support. We are truly grateful for our community’s appreciation and generosity.”

Past proceeds from the annual gala have helped fund scholarships for advanced nursing degrees and continuing education, significant renovations to patient care and visitor areas at McLaren Orthopedic Hospital, and more.

Leadership for the annual gala featured honorary co-chairs Lansing Mayor Virg and Mrs. Teri Bernero; Tom Anastos, head coach, Michigan State University (MSU) men’s hockey; Suzy Merchant, head coach, MSU women’s basketball, physician chair Lewis A. Jones Jr., MD, and gala committee co-chairs Angela Witwer, president, Edge Partnerships; and Rachel Michaud, vice president, Gillespie Group.
