Tucker takes helm as executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters

LANSING, Mich. -- Big Brothers Big Sisters Michigan Capital Region just got bigger with the appointment of noted community leader Robert Tucker Jr. as executive director.

Tucker, of Okemos, recently retired as vice president at Jackson National Life. Active with Big Brothers Big Sisters, he currently serves on its Board of Directors and is a former board chair.

“Mr. Tucker brings a wealth of knowledge and business acumen along with a commitment to making our community better,” said Jason Kildea, board chair. “Under his leadership, we know Big Brothers Big Sisters will continue to positively impact the lives of so many youth in mid-Michigan.”

Tucker succeeds Dr. Phillip Knight as executive director.

For more than 60 years locally, Big Brothers Big Sisters Michigan Capital Region has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”). Big Brothers Big Sisters Michigan Capital Region serves children in Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia and Shiawassee counties.
