HBA of Greater Lansing: Set for Record Year Donations to Toys for Tots

Members already raised more than $15,670 to purchase toys for Lansing area children

Okemos, MI – The Home Builders Association of Greater Lansing (HBA) has partnered with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program for the past two years to donate toys to brighten the holidays of Lansing area children in need. Of all of the Toys for Tots of Lansing corporate sponsors, HBA has given the largest number of donations every year.

“Last year was the first year that HBA took on this fundraiser. Previously, HBA member, The Meridian Company spearheaded the effort. Our members raised $6,150 for Toys for Tots and purchased 2,056 toys. This year, we’ve already surpassed our goal by raising an amazing $15,670!” said Cindy Kosloski, chief executive officer for the HBA of Greater Lansing.

The HBA will hold their annual Toys for Tots Fundraiser Event/ Holiday Dinner on Dec. 9 at Eagle Eye Golf Course (15500 Chandler Rd., Bath) at 6 p.m. The HBA of Greater Lansing asks their over 300 members to participate by sponsoring the dinner and bringing a new, unopened toy to the event. More than 44 companies have also placed a toy collection box at their locations. All proceeds from dinner sponsorships and the silent auction go directly toward purchasing toys.

One HBA member, Young Bros. & Daley, has donated to Toys for Tots for four years, and three of those years has been with the HBA of Greater Lansing. For this 120 year old Lansing-based company, it’s all about helping children experience the magic of Christmas.

“We are right here, close to the city mission. We see a lot of people truly less fortunate than we are. We all are blessed by the opportunity to provide for our kids and grandkids. Children need a Christmas present - that hope, that glimmer, that magic of the season. If they don’t get it, it’s crushing, so we can’t help but give back,” said Chuck Eallonardo, who’s been a salesman for the company for 28 years.

Young Bros. & Daley is one of the Toys for Tots collection sites (720 East Michigan Ave., Lansing). For a list of all of the toy collection locations, visit www.hbalansing.com.
