HBA of Greater Lansing Sets Record for Toys for Tots Donations

HBA’s Toys for Tots donations total more than $20,996.50

Okemos, MI – The Home Builders Association of Greater Lansing (HBA) held their annual Toys for Tots Fundraiser Event/Holiday Dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at Eagle Eye Golf Course in Bath.

“Before the dinner, HBA members had raised $16,531 for Toys for Tots through dinner sponsorships, which is a record year of giving for us,” said Cindy Kosloski, chief executive officer for the HBA of Greater Lansing. “Now that we have final numbers in, we’re excited to announce that we’ve raised a total of $20,996.50 and purchased 3,793 toys for Toys for Tots this year.”

Attendees enjoyed a catered dinner and silent auction. The highlight of the evening was the enormous spectacle of toys all piled around the Christmas tree.

“Several of our members and staff went shopping this week and purchased all $20,996.50 worth of toys! They were kind enough to deliver these, along with the toys from all 45 collection boxes from our member locations to the venue,” added Kosloski. “They even sorted all the toys which was a huge labor of love.”

The HBA asked their over 300 members to consider sponsoring the dinner and bringing a new, unopened toy to the Toys for Tots dinner on Dec. 9. More than 45 companies placed a toy collection box at their locations. All proceeds from dinner sponsorships and the silent auction went directly toward purchasing toys.

The HBA has partnered with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program for the past two years to donate toys to brighten the holidays of Lansing area children in need. Of all of the Toys for Tots of Lansing corporate sponsors, HBA has given the largest number of donations every year.

The Home Builders Association of Greater Lansing is a professional, non-profit trade association comprised of builders, remodelers, subcontractors and suppliers to the home building and remodeling industry. The HBA works to positively promote the building industry and impact legislative, regulatory and legal issues affecting housing affordability. To learn more visit, www.hbalansing.com.
