Lansing Has Been Named One of the 10 Best Affordable Places to Live by

Lansing, MI (February, 2, 2015) –, a website that ranks America’s most livable small and midsized cities, has released their 2015 rankings for the 10 Most Affordable Places to Live and Lansing is #4 on the list. 

The cost of living in Lansing is 8 percent below the national average, according to The Council of Community and Economic Research. With a median home value of $85,000, houses in Lansing are nearly 33 percent below what they are in most major cities. Residents also enjoy low transportation costs, typically spending less than 18 percent of their monthly salaries on car payments and gas. Living in Michigan also brings the advantage of having a flat-rate individual income tax of 4.33 percent.

“The Greater Lansing region is once again nationally recognized for being a great place to live, work and raise a family,” said Tim Daman, president and CEO of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. “Lansing is a budget-friendly city that offers numerous cultural, entertainment and recreational amenities while still helping families stretch their paychecks further.”
