John P. Gingas, Member of the Retirement Advisor Council, Attends Commonwealth Retirement Symposium

East Lansing, Michigan (June 2, 2015)—John P. Gingas, President of Financial Technology, Inc., in East Lansing, Michigan, attended the fifth annual Retirement Symposium—an educational conference hosted by Commonwealth Financial Network®, the nation’s largest privately held independent broker/dealer–RIA. The symposium, themed Taking the Lead – Exploring New Strategies to Influence Change, took place in Boston, Massachusetts, May 31–June 2, 2015, and provided strategies, tangible ideas, and resources to help drive retirement plan participation while also promoting wellness across all aspects of attending financial advisors’ retirement plan advisory practices.

Prior to the start of the conference, John P. Gingas joined fellow members of Commonwealth’s Retirement Advisor Council for their inaugural meeting. The Retirement Advisor Council comprises 21 seasoned advisors who specialize in, and have a deep working knowledge of, qualified retirement plans. The group exchanges business planning ideas, collaborates on how Commonwealth can help affiliated advisors achieve success in this marketplace, and helps inform and shape the direction of Commonwealth’s retirement plan offering.

At the three-day Retirement Symposium, attendees gathered with a targeted group to participate in advanced retirement-focused educational sessions and had the opportunity to engage with retirement industry experts as well as Commonwealth’s home office staff. The agenda included formal presentations, workshops, keynote speakers, and breakout sessions, with focus placed on:

Developing creative and engaging ways to drive retirement plan participation
Hearing from industry thought leaders to help steer and refine initiatives that will resonate with retirement plan participants and encourage enrollment in employer-sponsored retirement plans
Working with plan sponsors to optimize plan participation and overall financial wellness

“As a recognized leader in the qualified plan industry, we continue to introduce new tools and programs to support our advisors’ offering in the retirement plan marketplace,” said Paul Mahan, Commonwealth’s senior vice president, retirement consulting services. “We have placed heavy emphasis on resources that focus on, and are aligned with, plan health and participant preparedness for retirement.”
