11TH ANNUAL YOUTH FISHING DERBY AND MASON OPTIMIST
YOUTH SPORTS DAY AT BURCHFIELD COUNTY PARK
Grab the fishing poles and tackle boxes and bring the kids out to Burchfield Park for a
day of fishing and outdoor fun! Burchfield Park is located at 881 Grovenburg Road in
Holt, just south of Holt Road. The fishing derby and outdoor fair is on Saturday, June
13, 2015 during the DNR free fishing weekend. The fishing derby is for youth 4-16
years of age and all youth must be accompanied by an adult. Participants will have
the chance to compete for grand prizes including a kayak, golf set, family tent, and
In conjunction with the Burchfield Park fishing derby, the Mason Optimist Club
sponsors the Youth Sports Day—an outdoor fair offering the following activities: fly
tying, fly casting, lure making, dog retrieving demo, air rifle shooting, archery
shooting, trappers display, deer display, virtual reality fishing machine, kayak and
canoe paddling, water safety, and disc golf.
Each participant in the outdoor fair will receive a free lunch and the first 200 youth will
get a free T-shirt, compliments of the Mason Optimists Club.
Please bring your own fishing gear if you have it, if not, there will be a limited supply
of equipment to use if needed.
Participation in the derby and outdoor fair is free. There is a $3 Ingham County
resident and a $5 non-resident vehicle entrance fee.
Registration begins at 8:00am with the fishing derby starting at 9:00am and ending at
12:00pm. The outdoor fair will end at 4:00pm.
Please Note: There will be NO FISHING allowed in the Burchfield pond
beginning on Thursday, June 11th until the start of the tournament on Saturday
