About the Global Institute of Lansing:  The GIL was founded as part of a collaborative initiative of St. Vincent Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services of Michigan.  GIL’s goal is to provide appropriate educational options for refugee and immigrant youth to complete high school and earn a diploma in an atmosphere of peace, respect encouragement and inspiration.  Today the GIL is a thriving independent non-profit, providing vital resources to our community. GIL is an independent charitable non-profit corporation who pays for the student’s high school program by tax-deductible contributions, grants and in-kind gifts such as the instructional space offered by First Presbyterian Church.  The staff are strictly qualified volunteers.

The coalition of the GIL believe all children and youth in the Lansing area, regardless of their place of origin, are valuable members of our community and have the right to learn, grow and achieve their desired educational success. GIL envisions a community built from youth infused with hope, opportunity, self-efficacy and personal empowerment.
