Child and Family Charities: ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR—JULIE THOMASMA, PH. D.

LANSING, July 16, 2015– Child and Family Charities and its board of directors are pleased to announce that Julie Thomasma, Ph.D. has been named the agency’s Executive Director. Dr. Thomasma previously held the position of Chief Clinical Officer at Helping Hand Center, an agency in Chicago that provides a full range of clinical services to children, teens and adults.

Sherry Campbell, president of Child and Family Charities board of directors said, “After an extensive search involving many qualified candidates, we are pleased to have selected Julie as our new Executive Director. Her background in clinical services—including experience in advocacy and strategic planning —will bring strength in leadership to Child and Family Charities. We are extremely enthusiastic about our choice and look forward to the direction Dr. Thomasma will take the agency in the years ahead.”

Dr. Thomasma graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology with a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. She completed her APA (American Psychological Association) accredited clinical internship at Boston Consortium in Clinical Psychology with a Clinical Fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Teaching Fellowship at Boston University. She also holds a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Illinois Institute of Technology. Julie graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology and Cognitive Science.

Julie said of her new position, “Child and Family Charities, is a thriving social services agency that has been doing tremendous work in the community. I sincerely look forward to this challenge and am thrilled to be a part of such a great leadership team.”

Julie enjoys cooking, biking, boating, and spending time with her family at White Lake, MI. Julie and her husband, Dave, are Michigan natives and look forward to returning to their home state along with their two children, David and Aubrey. Julie will be assuming her exciting new role on Monday, August 24, 2015. We hope you will join us in welcoming her and her family back to Michigan!
