MANITOU EXPANDS BUSINESS OPERATIONS, MOVES TO NEW FACILITY OFF LOWELL RD. IN LANSING

CBRE|Martin Negotiates Sale of 141,700 SF Industrial Building, Plus 10 Acres
EAST LANSING, MI – August 3, 2015 – CBRE|Martin is pleased to announce the sale of the 16020 Lowell Rd. property, located on the north side of Lansing, west of Capital Region International Airport.

Wolverton Industries sold the 141,700 SF industrial building plus 10 acres of property to new owner, Triton Industries Inc., manufacturer of Manitou Pontoon Boats. Headquartered in Lansing since 1985, Triton Industries purchased the property because it outgrew its existing space off Northport Dr. in Delta Twp. due to its tremendous business growth.

“We were in need of a much-larger manufacturing facility for our pontoon boats yet we felt it was important to remain in the Lansing area because of our rich history here and our people,” said Scott Van Wagenen, president of Manitou. “A company can’t be as quality-oriented as we are without having a great workforce.”

CBRE|Martin senior associate and industrial advisor, Julie O’Brien represented the buyer and the CBRE|Martin industrial team represented the seller in the transaction. The closing date on the property was in June, 2014. Manitou plans to shut down operations in Aug. 2015 to move into its new space after the completion of substantial capital improvements. Production will start back up Sept. 8, 2015.

“We appreciate Julie with CBRE|Martin as well as LEAP and the MEDC for assisting us in finding a place to relocate so we could stay in the area,” said Van Wagenen. “With the new improvements, the property will be perfect for us to continue production in the Lansing area for years to come.”

Manitou will be celebrating its 30th anniversary in August. Much of Manitou’s growth has been due to its V-Toon, a patented V hull technology that helps Manitou Pontoon Boats turn like a fiberglass runabout, or speed boat. Manitou distributes its pontoon boats in the U.S. and Canada.

Manitou’s existing location at 7800 Northport Dr. in Delta Township is currently available through CBRE|Martin. The property is a well-maintained 53,622 SF manufacturing facility on over 10 acres with highway visibility. This highly sought after industrial area is in close proximity to General Motors Lansing Delta Township Assembly.
