AddMe Pitches Winning Business Idea at The Hatching

LEAP and Spartan Innovations host monthly business pitch competition, Sept. 24

LANSING, MI – The Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) and Spartan Innovations hosted The Hatching, the monthly business pitch competition event on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015 at Dublin Square in East Lansing. Local entrepreneurs and supporters attended the event to cheer on the next big idea they’d like to see hatch in Lansing.

The winning idea was AddMe, an app that allows users to share contact information and social media profiles in the click of a button. AddMe acts as a portfolio of contact information, social media profiles and/or websites that people affiliate with. Instead of individually searching for friends on each social media site, a person can simply go to their AddMe page and “add friend” on every platform they use.

“It was great to see such a large turnout of students. It really shows that entrepreneurship resonates with the younger generation,” said Tony Willis, director of New Economy at LEAP.

The Hatching is part of a community-wide effort to support local entrepreneurs and make the Lansing region a great place to start a business. This event helps move new, local business ideas from concept to reality and provides winners with funding, legal support, market research, office space and more.

“This event featured a great series of clever, creative ideas from innovators who just needed an extra push to explore their concept,” said Paul Jaques, director of Student & Community Engagement at Spartan Innovations. “The Hatching and other community events like Startup Weekend and Lansing Maker Week allow people to come together, develop their ideas, and take them to market in a collaborative, supportive environment.”
