Joshua Davis Named Parade Grand Marshall and Headline Performer of 31st Annual Silver Bells in the City

LANSING, MI – The 31st Annual Silver Bells in the City welcomes Michiganbased
singer-songwriter, Joshua Davis, as the 19th Annual Electric Light
Parade Grand Marshall and the headline performer on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015.
New this year: Davis will perform at The Lansing Center, rather than on the
steps of the Capitol, following the fireworks, from 8 to 9 p.m.

Davis is best known in Lansing as a member of “Steppin’ In It” and as a
finalist on Season 8 of NBC’s “The Voice” where he worked under coach
Adam Levine, front man of Maroon 5. He is a Michigan native, a graduate of
Michigan State University and currently lives in Traverse City with his wife,
daughter and son.

Davis was raised in the folk tradition and writes songs that blend the roots of
American music with gritty rock n’ roll and vintage soul. His music is steeped
in ragtime blues, sweet jazz and real country. For more than 15 years, Davis
has made his living sharing his songs, stories and knowledge across the US
and Canada at festivals, concert halls, coffeehouses and dives - as a solo
act, front man for roots ensemble “Steppin’ In It”, classic swing band “Shout
Sister Shout”, songwriter showcase band “The Starlight Six” and frequently
as a workshop facilitator, presenter or instructor.

Davis has shared the stage with artists such as Tim O’Brien, Greg Brown,
The Indigo Girls, Leftover Salmon, The Dixie Hummingbirds, Corey Harris,
John Gorka, Jeff Daniels, Ellis Paul, The Blind Boys of Alabama, among
others. He has released three critically acclaimed solo albums, five albums
with “Steppin’ In It” and a record of jazz standards with “Shout Sister
Shout”. His most recent album, “A Miracle of Birds” is inspired by his
travels in the Palestinian West Bank.

The 31st annual Silver Bells in the City is made possible through the
support of many generous area sponsors, including Presenting Sponsors,
the Lansing Board of Water and Light and the City of Lansing. The Electric
Light Parade sponsors are the International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers, Local Union 665 and the Lansing Chapter of the National Electrical
Contractors Association. The fireworks show is generously sponsored
by Lake Trust Credit Union, the Christmas Tree Lighting is sponsored by
Granger and the Silver Bells 5K Run/Walk is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue
Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network and H&H Inc.
