John Kepros, M.D., appointed Chief of Sparrow’s Medical Staff

LANSING, MI – Sparrow is pleased to welcome John Kepros, M.D., as its new Chief of Medical Staff for a two-year term. His appointment began Jan. 1, 2016.
“I am honored to have been elected by my peers during this very exciting time for Sparrow,” said Dr. Kepros. “We are the link between our Patients and an accurate diagnosis and treatment. Their needs always come first and we are truly committed to transforming care for them.”
In his new role, Dr. Kepros will represent and communicate the views, policies, concerns and needs of Sparrow’s more than 950 Medical Staff members while working with Sparrow Leadership to ensure quality, compassionate care for all Patients.
Dr. Kepros, currently Medical Director for Sparrow Trauma Services, received the Inaugural Sparrow Physician Leadership award and was formerly the Chair of Surgery.
He has served the Medical Staff on multiple committees and holds a Master’s Degree in both Business Administration and Surgery in addition to his traditional medical training. Dr. Kepros earned his Medical Degree from the University of Iowa.
Dr. Kepros is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and he completed his Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care and Trauma at Yale University.
He takes over for previous Chief of Medical Staff James Olson, M.D. Sparrow sincerely thanks Dr. Olson for his leadership and service to our Medical Staff. We are grateful for his guidance.
Candace Metcalf, D.O., was elected to serve as Chief of Staff-Elect during Dr. Kepros’ term.
