With the assistance of host and local State Farm agent Greg Lamanski, the ESPN College GameDay bus will be making a stop at the St. Vincent Catholic Charities (STVCC) Children’s Home on Thursday, January 21 at approximately 3:00 p.m. Residents of the Children’s Home will receive a tour of the bus and a behinds-the-scenes look at the production and planning that goes into broadcasting one of the nation’s most iconic sports shows.

The event will take place in the STVCC Children’s Home parking lot, which is located at 2828 W. Willow St., Lansing, MI 48917.

The STVCC Children’s Home is a residential facility that provides therapeutic care for up to 40 children who have suffered from severe abuse and neglect. STVCC staff care for the children, assess their needs, and recommend a living situation for the children that will help nurture a stable living environment and foster healthy relationships.

“We are very thankful that Mr. Lamanski has thought of our Children’s Home to include on his bus tour,” stated Alysia Christy, STVCC Children’s Home Program Manager. “We strive to offer many normalizing activities to our children, and this visit is sure to be a unique and fun experience that they will remember.”

The Children’s Home has been a staple in the Lansing community since it was first built in 1952. Known in its early years as, St. Vincent Home for Children, the facility has provided a loving place for children whose parents could no longer care for them.

Constructed in 2004, the current Children’s Home is a state of the art building that offers assessment and stabilization services for children in crisis. Services include individual and family therapy, an on-grounds educational program for children unable to attend public schools, and 24-hour counseling.

The ESPN College GameDay bus is in town as part of the ESPN College GameDay broadcast on Saturday, January 23 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center on the campus of Michigan State University. ESPN College GameDay Covered by State Farm is hosted by Rece Davis, and includes analysts Jay Bilas, Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams. The announcing team will not be part of the bus tour.
