The Lansing City Market has always been home to Michigan-based produce and specialty items, and that selection has just expanded with the addition of two new merchants, LS Jewelry Designs and Iggy’s In Convenience. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Virg Bernero will take place on Thursday, February 4th at 11:30 am, with Iggy’s first, followed by LS Jewelry Designs.

LS Jewelry Designs began in 2005, when artist Linda Sims branched out from her career in government and public office to create a business of designing custom-made jewelry here in Lansing. When LS Jewelry Designs moved into the City Market last month, she added a selection of fresh and wooden flowers to her array of gift items. Her booth also has space dedicated to designer Joyce Luckett, specializing in handstitched aprons and other garments, and Christina Sims, who designs men’s jewelry and “the barefoot sandal.” “I feel I am on the cutting edge of the newness of the market, and I look forward to the coming months when other vendors will join us in celebrating and embracing business in the Stadium District,” said Sims. City Market Manager, Audrey Tipper added, “The positive attitude and amazing products are a wonderful addition to the market. Whether purchasing for a gift or for yourself, the recipient will be thrilled with the level of quality.”

Iggy’s In Convenience is owned by Igor Jurkovic, who had already been supplying The Waterfront Bar & Grill with fresh produce before opening his store at the Market. In addition to his produce, Iggy’s offers milk, eggs, canned goods, household products, breads, pastas, soda, beer, and wine. One customer segment both Jurkovic and the Market want to be sure they serve, is the residents in the new downtown developments, including neighboring Marketplace Apartments. Jurkovic has recognized the need for downtown residents to be able to access everyday grocery items without having to leave the downtown. To further entice shoppers, Iggy’s has an arrangement with Waterfront Bar and Grill that allows for patrons to enjoy an alcoholic beverage from the bar while shopping at Iggy’s.
