2016 Philanthropist of the Year awards

The Capital Area Chapter, Association of Fundraising Professionals (CAC -AFP), is pleased to announce the winners of the 2016 Philanthropist of the Year awards. These awards will be presented at the Annual Conference luncheon on March 16, 2016 from 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Eagle Eye Country Club in Bath, MI. This event will feature an awards ceremony recognizing these dedicated individuals whose accomplishments and contributions enriched philanthropy and make a difference in our communities.
Individual Philanthropist of the Year – John C. Brewster DDS
Dr. John C. Brewster has been involved in Nyaka as a member of their Advisory Board as well as their One by One Planning Committee for several years. In addition to his work in the US to support Nyaka, Dr. Brewster has personally visited their project sites in Uganda, multiple times, to administer dental care to a community of over 250,000, none of which ever received dental care before. Dr. Brewster has recruited colleagues from across the United States to join him on these mission trips to Uganda and has played a key role in turning these volunteers into committed donors.
Corporate Philanthropist of the Year – Emergent BioSolutions
Emergent BioSolutions has financially supported Red Cross at a major gift level for many years. Their support enables Red Cross to fulfill its mission in disaster relief, primarily responding to victims of home fires in the Greater Lansing area. They have not only provided financial support but have given time, energy, offered leadership to the organization and have actively participated in service delivery in every arena from Blood Services to Disaster Relief at Red Cross.
