Habitat for Humanity Capital Region is proud to announce that it has been named the 2015 Affiliate of the Year for the state of Michigan by Habitat for Humanity of Michigan.
“We were thrilled to hear we won the award. We are proud to serve the Capital region. Our team works hard to provide homes and hope to people in need of affordable housing, and now it has paid off! This marks the beginning of even greater things to come for Habitat for Humanity Capital Region,” said Vicki Hamilton-Allen, Habitat for Humanity Capital Region’s Executive Director.
The purpose of the annual Affiliate of the Year Award is to honor one Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Michigan for its significant accomplishments that have advanced the mission of Habitat for Humanity. The judges consider the affiliate’s volunteer impact, number of families served, fundraising activities, advocacy actions, community partnerships and best practices. Out of all the submissions, the judges chose Habitat for Humanity Capital Region based on the outstanding work in these areas.
The judging panel is made up of representatives from Habitat for Humanity of Michigan affiliates who have not entered a candidate in the current year’s awards program and the Habitat for Humanity of Michigan Board of Directors.
“We are so proud of our partners at Habitat for Humanity Capital Region for the dedication they have shown to the mission of Habitat. They were able to make great strides in the Lansing community improving neighborhoods, providing security and generating hope for so many families, all while going through a huge restructuring of their organization. Their efforts are commendable and we are so thankful for the work they have done and what they will continue to do in the future,” said Sandra Pearson, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Michigan.
Habitat for Humanity Capital Region will be presented with the award at the Habitat for Humanity of Michigan’s 20th Annual Awards Banquet on Sept. 14, 2016 at the Lansing Center.
