Auto-Owners Insurance Company, as part of its celebration of its 100th anniversary this year, has contributed approximately $1 million to support and assist 31 basic needs charities in the greater Lansing area, as well as additional basic needs organizations in all of the 26 states in which it operates.
“I am very proud we have been celebrating the communities we operate in by giving back through charitable organizations,” Chairman & CEO Jeff Harrold said. “We wouldn’t be here if we hadn’t been embraced by the communities in the regions we’re doing business in.”
The organizations that received the donations in the greater Lansing area were selected by a vote of Lansing-based Auto-Owners associates, and the amount of the donation was based on the number of votes received. Lansing-based associates have also participated in food drives for the Salvation Army and Greater Lansing Food Bank as well as a Red Cross blood drive this year.
In addition to the financial contributions made by Auto-Owners to basic needs charities, associates in states outside of Michigan completed a variety of volunteer activities, including food and clothing collections.
