CATA to launch fall service August 29
Tuesday, August 23, 2016
As students prepare to return to school, Spartan Service – the additional service provided during MSU fall and spring semesters – resumes on MSU’s campus Monday, Aug. 29, and on Routes 1, 23, 25, 26 and Entertainment Express.
The following route and services will also implement changes on Aug. 29:
Route 20 South Harrison/Jolly/Dunckel
Monday through Thursday during MSU fall and spring semesters, buses will operate as Spartan Service providing additional trips and 20- to 30-minute service throughout most of the day and evening. Friday, Saturday and Sunday service will remain the same year-round.
The route will also travel west of Collins Road (on Alliance Drive and Technology Boulevard) between Forest and Dunckel roads. In the event of significant snowfall inhibiting buses from traveling Alliance and Technology, Route 20 will remain on Collins Road.
As a reminder, on Aug. 29, Route 20 will also conclude service into Spartan Village until winter break. Service throughout the complex will be provided by Route 39 University Village/Spartan Village during the week and by Route 35 South Neighborhood/Spartan Village on weekends during fall semester.
During MSU breaks and holidays, Monday through Thursday service will mirror the Friday schedule.
Delhi, Delta and Meridian Redi-Ride
Advance reservations will be limited to no more than seven days prior to any desired trip date(s). Ride cancellations must be made no later than 5 p.m. the day before a scheduled trip. Monday trips must be canceled by 5 p.m. Saturday. Failure to follow the cancellation procedure will result in penalties in accordance with CATA’s no-show rules. A copy of the rules is available online at cata.org.
Route 12 W. Michigan/Waverly/LCC West
Service will resume to LCC West Aug. 25 with shuttle buses running between Ollie’s and the college’s west campus. Customers should continue to follow the summer break timetable until Aug. 29 when Route 12 buses return to the more frequent LCC service timetable and travel directly to LCC West.
There are no changes in service on Routes 1-16, 22-26, 30-39, 46, 48, Entertainment Express, Mason or Williamston Redi-Ride.
To allow campus buses to resume service at the MSU-CATA Transportation Center Aug. 29, Routes 20, 22 and 23 will return to boarding passengers at the Shaw and Farm boarding site.
Customers may obtain the new Route 20 schedule and Redi-Ride information online at cata.org, on buses, at schedule racks throughout the area, at the CATA Transportation Center in downtown Lansing, the Multimodal Gateway in East Lansing and Parking Ramp No. 1 on the MSU campus.
