Monday, October 17, 2016
The Ingham County Sobriety Court Foundation will be hosting its 5th Annual Breakfast on Friday, October 28, 2016.
This year's breakfast will focus on "The Opioid Epidemic Up Close and Personal." The event will be hosted by Sheri Jones, anchor from WLNS Channel 6. Guest speakers will include Gretchen Whitmer, acting Ingham County Prosecutor, and Amanda Lick, Manager of Advocacy, Governmental and Regulatory Affairs of the Michigan Pharmacists Association.
The Ingham County Sobriety Court Foundation was established in 2007 and supports local sobriety courts in meeting the needs of their participants. These courts partner with treatment agencies and various community resources to provide aid helping participants achieve and maintain sobriety.
The Ingham County Sobriety Courts have an extremely high recovery rate reporting at 88 percent of participants. More than 600 graduates have made their way through the Ingham County Sobriety Court's four locations. Studies conducted by the National Association of Drug Court Professionals have shown that graduates of sobriety courts have reduced rates of drug use and repeat offenses and increased rates of family reunification.
The breakfast will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the Country Club of Lansing, 2200 Moores River Drive, Lansing, MI. This event is open to all members of the community. Those interested in attending should RSVP by Friday, October 21, to firstname.lastname@example.org or call Sharla at 517-371-8188. All proceeds will benefit the local sobriety courts. Those who are unable to attend but still wish to make a contribution, donations are accepted and tax deductible.
