By Caroline L. Nugent

The final year of college, exploring internships and career opportunities, and everything in between while soaking in the final semester on campus, was a whirlwind experience. As the challenges of school came to an end, new opportunities arose.

My senior year was filled with many great memories - from attending my last seasons of MSU football and basketball to spending time with friends and hours of studying - I also spent a lot of time learning more about the field I am pursuing which included my first internship experience. As a marketing and communications student practitioner at the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC), I dove head first into projects and strategy development, taking what I learned from school and applying it to the work and mission of the Chamber.

During my time at the Chamber, I had the opportunity to work on multiple projects, all designed to enhance member visibility, engagement, connectivity, and membership value while strengthening the Greater Lansing business community. One of the main projects I worked on was the launch of the Lansing Marketplace, LRCC’s new online directory of more than 1,100 Greater Lansing businesses and organizations.

The staff at the Chamber has been supportive, enabling me to get hands on experience as I’ve prepared to graduate from Michigan State University and pursue a career in the media and marketing industry. It has been a fantastic opportunity and privilege to work for an organization that supports businesses, promotes economic growth, and serves as a strong advocacy voice for business in the community that I grew up in and love.

Greater Lansing is an amazing place for young professionals to live, work and thrive.
