Nominations and Applications Now Open for Chamber Awards

ATHENA, PowerLink and 10 Over the Next Ten Deadlines Approaching

The Chamber is making a call for applications and nominations for many of its most prestigious annual awards. Deadlines are approaching for nominations for the 10 Over the Next Ten Awards, ATHENA awards and ATHENA PowerLink.

The 10 Over the Next Ten Awards annually recognizes 10 leading young professionals in the Greater Lansing region. The winners of the 10 Over the Next Ten awards are judged based on their professional achievement, community involvement and personal success. Applicants are required to be 35-yearsold or younger as of October 1, 2017, professionally centered in the tri-county area (Ingham, Eaton and Clinton) and with a minimum of two years working in the Greater Lansing region. Nominations for the 2017 10 Over the Next Ten will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017. 2016 Recipients:

  • Jose Yanez, Full Circle Financial Planning

Dr. Joan Jackson Johnson, director of human relations and community services for the City of Lansing, was named the 2016 ATHENA Leadership Award recipient, being recognized for her years of dedicated community service to the under privileged in our community, her community and personal leadership, and her commitment to mentoring others.

The ATHENA Award honors women and men who strive towards the highest levels of professional accomplishment, who excel in their chosen field, have devoted time and energy to their community, and who pave paths for other women to follow. The ATHENA Award celebrates the potential of all women as leaders of the community and recognizes those who support them. To nominate an individual for the award, please fill out the application at no later than October 23, 2017.

The ATHENA PowerLink program is a national business mentoring program connecting women owned businesses with a skilled advisory panel that provides strategic consultation services for one year. PowerLink enhances the business owner’s leadership and management skills while helping to establish future business growth and success.
