Burcham Hills residents with Alzheimer's and dementia will have greater access to memory care services now that Burcham Hills has expanded its program.  The program addresses early to advanced stages of memory loss with customized activities to improve quality of life.

"Burcham Hills wanted to restructure its memory care services to support the highest potential of residents living with Alzheimer's or dementia," says Pam Ditri, Burcham Hills executive director.  "Our staff can focus on each person's unique life history, strengths and interests."

Residents in early stages of memory loss can participate in "Assisted Living Connections", where they maintain their independence while working with Burcham Hills’ staff in customized activities that help decrease agitation, wandering and anxiety.  Assisted Living Connections participants also benefit from "Heartfelt CONNECTIONS – A Memory Care Program® ", to improve physical and emotional well-being.

"Our family is beyond grateful to have our mother residing in Burcham Hills’ Assisted Living Connections as she is thriving, socializing and active," says Karen Couretas, daughter of a Burcham Hills resident.  "We could not ask for a better home for her knowing she is safe, cared for and happy.  We appreciate the staff, who really care and genuinely want to be there.  The compassion she receives from the caregivers is amazing."

Burcham Hills has also expanded its Memory Care Neighborhood Services.  Designed for residents in advanced stages of Alzheimer's or other dementias, the neighborhood provides specialized programming and a soothing environment for residents to maintain as much of their independence as possible.  Residents participate in pet therapy, cardio drumming and gardening, contribute to a resident art display and relax in the Quiet Room with calming music, aromatherapy and visual and tactile simulations.

Founded in 1974, Burcham Hills®, a not-for-profit Life Plan Community, offers quality independent living, assisted living and memory care in The Resident Center at Burcham Hills, and short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing care in The Center for Health & Rehabilitation at Burcham Hills.  Burcham Hills also offers onsite physical, occupational and speech therapy to the public in The Outpatient Therapy Clinic at Burcham Hills.
