Airport officials advise travelers to be aware of possible detours

Capital Region International Airport is advising fliers that upcoming road construction at the Grand River Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard intersection could lengthen travel times to the airport.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 16, the Michigan Department of Transportation will close the intersection as it reconstructs railroad tracks at the site. The intersection is expected to remain closed for two weeks during the 30-day construction project.

Detours will reroute car and truck traffic while the intersection is shut down. Travelers driving through the construction zone to the airport are advised to consider possible delays or find alternate routes, airport officials said.
