MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) is pleased to announce the start of the 2017–2018 financial education seminar series this past October and continuing through the spring of 2018. The free seminars are designed to prepare members and the community to navigate numerous financial situations. Credit Union employees and industry-specific experts present on a variety of topics including home buying, long term care planning, budgeting, and credit building.

The seminars are held at the Farm Lane Branch Community Room, as part of the Credit Union’s ongoing financial education program. The program provides in-class instruction and activities to community members throughout the Greater Lansing area. By continuing to host financial education seminars, the Credit Union demonstrates its commitment to providing services and tools for a positive financial future.

This year, the Credit Union will continue to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association to address financial and legal concerns associated with long-term caregiving. Volunteers from the Alzheimer’s Association will help educate attendees about the stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia. Additionally, they will learn the steps of taking responsibility for health care decisions and managing money for a loved one.

“We’re excited to present our 2017–2018 financial education seminar series. These events demonstrate our dedication to educating our members and the community about a variety of financial topics,” said Deidre Davis, MSUFCU’s Chief Marketing Officer. “By providing learning opportunities such as these, we help connect community members with the tools and resources for a positive financial future, ultimately making our entire community stronger.”

MSUFCU has a national reputation for excellence and has received several top industry and workplace awards. In 2016, the Credit Union was named the #1 Top Workplace in the large employer category by the Detroit Free Press and one of Fortune magazine’s 50 Best Workplaces for New College Grads as well as ranked fifth in the nation for its financial education program by the National Youth Involvement Board. MSUFCU also was named one of West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest companies to Work For, receiving the Michigan Business Professional Association’s top Elite Overall – Best of the Best award. This year, MSUFCU was named Outstanding Credit Union of the Year by the Michigan Credit Union League.
