Maner Costerisan, a full-service public accounting and business advisory firm, is pleased to announce the promotion of four certified public accountants into managerial positions across their financial departments. These professionals have shined as their careers move to the next level and are welcomed as leaders within their new capacities.

“At Maner Costerisan, we believe client relationships are the heart of our organization, in part because our advisors encompass who we are and what we achieve,” said Jeffrey Stevens, CPA, CITP and president of Maner Costerisan. “We are elated to welcome each of our stellar, young professionals to their new roles, and we’re all confident in their abilities to propel our service areas — and each other — to new heights.”

Amber Lynn McPherson, 27, has been promoted to manager in the tax department. In her new role, some of her duties include increasing the firm’s and the client’s presence and scope, reviewing tax returns and continuing the development of staff. McPherson joined Maner Costerisan in 2014 as an associate, and she looks to inspire young women to seek out their roles as leaders in their communities.

Graduating from Michigan State University (MSU) with her master’s degree in accounting and her bachelor’s in 2014, McPherson enjoys volunteering, traveling and spending time with her family.

Clayton Forrest Stiffler, 27, joined Maner Costerisan in 2014, fresh out of his master’s program at MSU; he is now a manager within the accounting and outsourced solutions department, where he utilizes his talents in a team approach for the financial solutions of small businesses and nonprofits.

Previously a scholar in the MSU Honor’s College and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Stiffler is now a proud member of the MSU Alumni Association. He also loves to attend Spartan sporting events as well as travel when out of the office.

Courtney Ann Laban, 26, has been promoted to manager within the audit department. Her sharp expertise lies primarily in audit engagements that refer to nonprofit organizations and the affordable housing niche. She began her career in 2012 with McCartney & Company PC, which merged with Maner Costerisan in 2014 and gave her a plethora of insights that have strengthened the accounting firm.

While her proudest accomplishments include earning her CPA license and receiving her master’s degree from Central Michigan University, Laban is involved in a host of professional associations related to her skill set, including the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and the Affordable Housing Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Timothy Steven Zylstra, 27, has been promoted to a manager role within the audit department. He joined Maner Costerisan in 2013 and formally stepped into his professional career during the following year. His enthusiasm and professionalism to move the strategies and tactics of client projects forward has been instrumental in the progression of client goals and relationships with his peers.

Hailing from Kalamazoo, Zylstra graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from MSU. Today, he is a member of the National Association of Certified Public Accountants, the MICPA and Grand River Connection as their treasurer. Zylstra spends his time enjoying cycling, photography and hiking.
