Eaton Rapids Medical Center (ERMC) employees Tara Calabro, LLMSW and Karen Corr were honored with the Dr. Meinke & Dr. Sherman Care. Serve. Inspire. Award at the hospital holiday celebration on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Each year, two ERMC employees are recognized for providing exceptional service to fellow staff members, patients and the community. The award, also known as the Employees of the Year Award, was established to honor Dr. Albert Meinke and Dr. Eber Sherman, physicians who were instrumental in the founding of Eaton Rapids Medical Center. Nominations outlined how each nominee cares, serves and inspires in their role, aligning the evaluation criteria with the Eaton Rapids Medical Center mission statement to “Care. Serve. Inspire.”

Calabro, a Limited Licensed Master Social Worker, has been a Behavioral Health Consultant at ERMC for three years. She sees patients in the Family Practice & Redicare and has a passion for working with adolescents. She is known for being positive, going above and beyond and advocating for patients.

Her nominations states, “Tara is an amazing asset to ERMC. She is always researching ways to help her patients and accommodate their struggles. Even as a coworker, Tara is always looking out for the best interests of everyone. She is able to identify if you are struggling and express that we must take care of ourselves before we can care for others. She never makes you feel like you are an interruption and is always willing to listen.” The nomination also details how great Calabro was with the child of an employee and how she caters her approach on therapy to each patient.

Corr has served as the Desktop Administrator for the Information Services Department at ERMC for eleven years. She was nominated by three of her coworkers. Nominations describe her as “patient, positive and a joy to have in our lives.”

One nomination shares, “You can tell Karen your computer problems can wait, but she comes to help you at once. If she can’t figure out an issue right away, she sticks with it. She is always busy and has to adapt to change, keeping up with the ever-changing technological advances. She stays calm, rolls with the punches and serves all of our needs. She truly loves her job. It’s an honor to work with her.”

Another nomination mentions, “Karen always follows up with computer issues to make sure everything is running smoothly. She always has a smile on her face. We are lucky to have her in our hospital keeping our information safe!”
