Roundtable of Opportunities
Greater Lansing --- also known as the Insurance Capital of Michigan --- is home to a vibrant insurance sector that has had a tremendous impact in our local economy. Your Lansing Regional Chamber recently hosted the first Insurance Roundtable focused on supporting our region’s valued insurance industry.
The Insurance Roundtable concentrated on how the industry can continue to advance job/talent development, economic development attraction, retention, and growth, quality of life, and enhancing awareness about the importance of the future of this industry in our region.
Insurance industry representatives from property/casualty, life, health, workers compensation, and financial securities were present for the discussion. While these companies may have competing interests, they all 100% agree that keeping Michigan competitive and attracting future talent to our region is a top priority.
Additionally, the Insurance Roundtable heard from Pat McPharlin, the new Director of the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services. (Director McPharlin is the past CEO of Michigan State University Federal Credit Union). As Director, he will focus on providing a welcoming business climate that promotes economic growth while supporting a regulatory environment that safeguards consumers and ensures industry sustainability.
Director McPharlin looks forward to continuing to work closely with the Lansing Regional Chamber Insurance Roundtable.
