The Community Service Award honors outstanding individuals who give their time and expertise to the community, above and beyond their own field of endeavor, and demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in all they do. This individual is an inspiration to the community, both in their profession and in their efforts to make the Lansing region a better place to live, work and play.

2017 Community Service Award Recipient - Jim Robinson

Farm Bureau Insurance CEO Jim Robinson has been named the recipient of the 2017 Community Service award. Robinson’s career with Farm Bureau Insurance has spanned 42 years. He has been chief executive officer since 2004. In 2015 and 2016, the Detroit Free Press recognized Farm Bureau Insurance as one of the Top 100 Places to work in Michigan. Robinson will retire from Farm Bureau Insurance in June 2018. During his career, Robinson has stressed to all Farm Bureau employees the importance of being involved in the community. A snapshot of Robinson’s community service contributions: Chair of the Mid-Michigan Business Travel Coalition; Member of the Ele’s Place Board of Directors; Member of the Sparrow Foundation Board of Directors; Member of the Roy Westran Scholarship Foundation; Member of the Executive Committee of the Lansing Economic Area Partnership; and Former member of the Wharton Center Advisory Board.
