MLTA applauds George Zimmerman’s contributions to state tourism Steve Yencich, CAE, president and CEO of the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association today issued the following statement regarding the retirement of George Zimmerman, vice president of Travel Michigan.
“During his tenure, George served as a pioneer for one of the greatest tourism promotions of its kind. Pure Michigan has done more for our great state than any other single initiative in Michigan history. “The members of the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association acknowledge George’s exceptional contributions and wish him many great adventures during his retirement years. As part of the association’s recognition of his many accomplishments, we are thrilled to honor George as a special guest and speaker during the annual Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism held March 9-11 at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.
“Thank you, George, for your commitment to our state. You are Pure Michigan.”
### Steve Yencich, CAE, is president and CEO of the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association, representing hundreds of hotels, motels, resorts, and bed and breakfasts that comprise more than 50,000 guest rooms throughout Michigan. MLTA is the only statewide trade association advocating for the state’s lodging and tourism industries.
