For Immediate Release:

Midtown Brewing Company Opens Downtown Lansing Beer Garden

Lansing residents can now sip a craft-brewed pint downtown — outdoors under a shady umbrella, next to fragrant hops, (a key ingredient in brewing beer), and pretend, for just a moment, that they’re in the heart of Munich, at the Viktuallenmarkt beer garden.

The European tradition of a craft beer garden — an outdoor urban setting nestled within flora or greenery — comes to Lansing’s downtown this spring at Midtown Brewing Company.

Midtown Brewing Company is a nanobrewery, making small batches of hand-crafted beers with unique characteristics.  The concept of evolving locally-brewed tap, and a rotating tap of unique Michigan brews from some of the more than 175 microbreweries in the state, brings a cultural experience to sipping suds in Lansing.

Brewing for more than a year at Midtown’s location at 402 S. Washington Ave., Midtown General Manager Marc Wolbert and brewer Brandon Cook are encouraging a following of fellow craft beer enthusiasts to embrace an ever-changing tap of tastes within a series.

While the nanobrewery “may always have an IPA (India Pale Ale), or a stout on tap, it will vary in its qualities as each new nano batch comes on tap”, says GM Wolbert.  Some of the unique flavors Midtown has had on tap include “the Milk Stout and Big Bridge Pale Ale. Varieties in the pipeline include ‘Black Sunshine’, a dark wheat beer with orange and coriander, and a red pepper basil wheat beer,” says brewer Cook.

The exclusive feel of the beers that Midtown crafts are unique to Lansing — and to Midtown — and help brand downtown Lansing as a beer destination. The addition of the beer garden in the summer will create that unique downtown urban beer drinking vibe that one would find in European cities.

So pull up a chair, say hello to your neighbor and raise a glass! Prost!
