City of East Lansing Mayor Meets with TIC Tenants

Mayor Triplett connects with TIC Tenants at Meet & Greet event

EAST LANSING, MI – City of East Lansing Mayor Nathan Triplett formally visited the Technology Innovation Center (TIC) this morning as a way to introduce himself and get acquainted with the innovative startup companies operating there. Triplett spoke candidly with the tenants in an effort to connect and provide local resources for these expanding companies.

Mayor Triplett stated, “It was important for me to meet with these TIC tenants to send a message about the importance the City of East Lansing places on building an entrepreneurial culture and embracing innovation.” The Mayor went on to add, “Many folks who live in East Lansing and throughout the region don’t know what is happening in this space, yet it is critically important to our economic strategy to diversify our downtown and embrace the future here in the City and region.”

The Technology Innovation Center is a technology incubator geared towards early stage companies looking to gain a foothold within their industries all while keeping low operating costs by sharing common areas and equipment. The TIC is one of seven regional business incubations all part of LEAP’s Regional Incubation Network (RIN). On May 29, community members can tour each business incubator throughout the region by participating in the touRIN Greater Lansing event. More information can be found at

“Some communities have cut this type of incubator programming in difficult economic times. We've chosen a different path.  For our community and the entire Lansing region, it is vital that we provide support to these innovation spaces and entrepreneurs,” added the Mayor.

“It is important for these startup companies to feel supported ball regional leaders including Mayor Triplett,” said Bob Trezise, President and CEO of LEAP. “We are building something incredible in the Lansing region. Massive change is happening as we speak. Our new, entrepreneurial culture and spirit, as a region and in East Lansing, are well under way.”

The Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) is a coalition of area leaders committed to building a prosperous and vibrant region where business can thrive. To do this, we help entrepreneurs start new businesses, help existing businesses grow, and attract new businesses to the region.
