Foster Swift attorney Liza Moore received Honorary Membership in the Michigan Association of Agriscience Educators (MAAE) at their 98th Annual Banquet on November 8 in Lansing.  The MAAE banquet recognized excellent agriscience teachers from across the state. Honorary membership in the MAAE is granted to those who have made distinct contributions to the progress of agriscience and natural resources education.

The MAAE is a professional organization that is made up of teachers and educators of agriscience in Michigan. Education in agriculture is a three-pronged process in which high school students participate in classrooms and laboratories, learn from work-based agricultural experience programs, and develop leadership through the FFA, an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture.

Liza has a life-long passion for and involvement in agriculture, which continues into her law practice. In the summer of 2012, Liza worked with other attorneys to create the Agricultural Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. Liza was elected as the section’s first chairperson in 2013.  Liza served as the 2015 president of the Board of Directors of the Michigan FFA Foundation. She is also the current leader of the agribusiness practice group at Foster Swift.

She grew up working on her parents’ farm in Indiana, and served as an Indiana FFA State Officer full-time for a year before going to college at the University of Chicago and to law school at Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington (now Maurer School of Law).
